The original Merlin Marine Engine Corp. was started in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 1982 and moved to Ormond Beach, Florida in 1990 under the name of Daytona Marine Engine. However, in 1998 Daytona Marine stopped building new engines.

In 2000, US-1 Marine Parts & Service purchased all the tooling to make all the parts for Merlin and Daytona Engines, internal and external.
